Dr. Solomon Appiah, Ph.D., is the founder of the Sunesis Learning Initiative (SLI), a progressive, mission-oriented, multifaceted, global ministry that aims to disciple the world for our Lord Jesus Christ. As a pastor, teacher, seminar host, and best-selling author, Pastor Solomon, affectionally known as Rabbi Solomon, is passionate about bringing the peoples of the world into the reality of what Christ has accomplished for them—bringing many sons into glory.

Dr. Appiah’s work and interests cut across multiple spheres of influence in society (the overlap between faith, governance, economy, family, education, media, arts, entertainment, and culture)—and his teachings and seminars reflect the breadth of this knowledge. He is a bible teacher, consultant, lecturer, and author, whose previous work spans international relations, natural resources and human rights.

He hosts the world-renowned Sunesis Teaching Seminars and is the author of the highly sought-after Sunesis Insights—a repository of teaching articles categorised by Faith, Policy & Governance and Leadership.

About Us

Sunesis Learning Initiative (SLI) is a progressive, mission-oriented, multifaceted, global ministry that aims to disciple the world for our Lord Jesus Christ.

The scope of our activities cuts across multiple spheres of influence in society (the overlap between faith, governance, economy, family, education, media, arts, entertainment, and culture). We are a Solution Centre. Whether domestic, international, economic or faith-based, policy is simply a solution to a mystery or a problem. A public solution to a public problem is called a public policy. This is where Sunesis comes in.

SUNESIS EXPLAINED

“The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” (Pro 4:7, NIV). The author states that understanding is worth all a person is worth. In another section, the bible states, “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established” (Pro 24:3, NIV).

Just as wisdom is important, understanding is also very important. The Spirit of wisdom doesn’t come alone. In Proverbs 8:14, Wisdom says, “Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.” Wisdom imparts understanding. Sometimes, people, families, and nations have questions that require answers. The absence of understanding causes them to walk in darkness, pain and penury. The Spirit of wisdom gives insight into mysteries and secrets by flooding the eyes of our understanding with light. In the parable of the sower, the Lord Jesus emphasises the importance of understanding when He explains that the seeds that fell by the wayside represent those who, when they hear the Word, don’t understand it. The message got into their hearts, but Jesus said that because they didn’t understand it, Satan came immediately to steal it from their hearts (Matthew 13:19). That means such persons will not enjoy life and the blessing Sunesis gives. Sunesis is spiritual understanding.

In the absence of it, there are no solutions to problems or mysteries—be it at the individual or national level. Many people ignorant of Sunesis or spiritual understanding function with a lesser understanding, namely human, worldly, or carnal understanding—what they have picked up from the sense realm—and yet life is spiritual. The physical came out of the spiritual. So, understanding the spirituality of life is where real victory lies. A lack of spiritual understanding affects how a person thinks, speaks and walks the earth. Spiritual understanding comes from God the Holy Spirit and is granted through God’s Word. Pastor Chris Oyahkilome DSc. DSc. DD. explains Sunesis thus:

‘Understanding’ as used in Colossians 1:9 is translated from the Greek word ‘Sunesis’. It is an interpretation, a way of thinking; a mentality. It is a revelatory understanding which the Word of God gives. It will make you spiritually wise, insightful, and discerning. It will cause you to have the personality that God wants you to have. More importantly, it will program you for the ages to come

THE MOUNTAIN OF THE LORD’S HOUSE

Isa 2:2 (AMPC)

2 It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be [firmly] established as the highest of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow to it.

Why will all nations come to the Lord’s House? Because of solutions. SLI is strategically positioned on the mountain of the Lord's house as part of that house to provide sunesis or spiritual understanding to our world.

An Initiative?

To understand the Sunesis Learning Initiative, one must first comprehend what an initiative is. An initiative as per Google’s English dictionary is defined as follows:

Initiative:

the ability to assess and initiate things independently.
- "use your initiative, imagination, and common sense"
the power or opportunity to act or take charge before others do.
- "anti-hunting groups have seized the initiative in the dispute"
an act or strategy intended to resolve a difficulty or improve a situation; a fresh approach to something.
-"a new initiative against car crime"
(especially in Switzerland and some US states) the right of citizens outside the legislature to originate legislation.

What We Do?

The SUNESIS Learning Initiative, also known as the Ekklēsia Project, offers “the power or opportunity to act or take charge before others do.” It is a divine “act or strategy intended to resolve a difficulty or improve a situation; a fresh approach to something.”

5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

18 The House of God—is built by God. The Holy Spirit is the Chief Architect of God, and Jesus, who is the Word, is himself God (John 1:1). Jesus told Peter, “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

He never said, “I will cause men to build my house,” but rather, “I [Jesus] will build my Ekklesia.” The word church is correctly translated as the Ekklesia or God’s reigning royal house or God’s royal family. God, therefore, is the builder of His City—Zion and His House within that City. Abraham sought for this city.

10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

Though God is the leading builder, He, however, chooses to build His building with the help of those called His co-laborers.

9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.

10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Construction requires building blocks and the building blocks are in part recreated new creations in Christ Jesus (new men).

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

20 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

These verses above sum up the genesis, vision and mission of Sunesis Learning Initiative—to equip or perfect the Living Stones (1Peter 2:5) after the image and likeness of the Living Stone (1Peter 2:4). These Stones are laid in Zion as part of God’s building.

How We Do It?

To this end, the Initiative employs a Christ-encompassing, multi-centric, and widespread set of character-forming, capacity-building tools that are Christ-centric, value-laden, and driven. By this, reference is made to the culture and values of the Kingdom of Heaven. Put differently, the Initiative endeavors to renew people in the spirit of their minds—enabling them to put to death the Old Man and put on the New Man with his New Kingdom Culture. A sample of how the Initiative achieves the above is education through in-person teaching seminars, one-on-one mentorship and coaching, a learning management system, videos, print media, social platforms, and all available media.

THE IMPORTANCE OF TRUTH AND ACCURATE KNOWLEDGE

Truth is the unveiled objective reality lying at the basis of and agreeing with an appearance; the manifested, the veritable essence of matter. Truth, verity, reality. The reality pertaining to an appearance (adapted from The Complete Word Study Dictionary).

Accurate knowledge is also important. Many seek knowledge and truth from the media systems of this world rather than from God the Creator. The world’s media outlets have, over time, been strategically consolidated into the hands of a few global actors. This has led to a monopoly of knowledge production, distribution and consumption—to fit a particular narrative. Most of these narratives do not give life but spread misinformation or lies, fear, dissatisfaction etc. because they are connected to the tree of knowledge of good and evil—and not the tree of life. False knowledge from the wrong tree leads to a defeated and frustrated life with occasional highs and many lows. It matters what you ingest. Accurate knowledge [epignosis] leads to life (Zoe)—the very same life Jesus is and has made available to you. This is sometimes referred to as eternal life. What is eternal life?

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

It is available to all who will accept it today. This is partly why SLI exists—to contribute to making this knowledge available to all.
